Design and Technology at Hurst Hill prepares children to take part in a rapidly changing world. The subject encourages children to become autonomous and creative problem solvers both as individuals and as part of a team. It enables them to identify needs and opportunities and to respond to developing ideas and making products and systems. They will reflect and evaluate their work considering the aesthetic, social and environmental issues. Design Technology will help children at Hurst Hill become discriminating and informed consumers.

To develop in each child a passion for music through singing, playing, composing and performing. For each child to have the opportunity to develop the skill of playing a musical instrument and for them to be able to perform with confidence to a wider audience throughout their primary school career.

To equip our children with the skills to explore the world around them, creating their own imaginative pieces of art, through the study of historical and contemporary artists and by using a range of media.

To help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, and tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.
